Sample Preparation and Data Validation in Proteomics
8 – 12 March 2010, Warsaw, POLAND
Abstract
In a single proteomic experiment,
thousands of proteins can be identified. Because of the statistical character
of the proteomic data analysis software, where each analysis generates false
positives, data processing is a central and critical component of a successful
proteomics experiment, and is often the most time-consuming step.
Our course concentrates on the process
of sample preparation for proteomic measurements and on the proteomic data
interpretation and results validation, two steps, which researchers using
services of MS facilities have to cope with.

Registration
The course will be open to all
interested researchers, however it would target specifically scientists
involved in proteomic studies, who do not work directly at MS facilities. They
should have prior experience with protein purification procedures, but do not
have to be familiar with samples processing requirements for MS measurements (general
protein purification techniques are beyond the scope the proposed curriculum).
To ensure proper working environment
and comfortable access to instruments, number of participants will be limited to
20 Please sent the registration form
to jasio@ibb.waw.pl by 8th February. If the number of applications
exceeds the number of places, 20 applications will be accepted on a first come,
first served basis.
The maximal number of participants from any given institution / department
is limited to two, and number of participants from a given country should not exceed
20%.
Accommodation and catering
We cover accommodation costs for participants staying at the
hotel located on the campus and we provide full board catering. We have 12
single rooms and 5 twin rooms (with two separate beds). Participants may decide to stay at hotels located outside the campus, but in
such case we will not be able to cover
their accommodation expenses. We do not reimburse travel expenses.
Experimental material
Although organizers provide the experimental
material, all participants are strongly encouraged to work with their own protein preps. However, due to
sample processing time, samples have to
be sent to organizers in advance. Participants interested in working on their
own samples are requested to discuss the details by e-mail: jasio@ibb.waw.pl.
